The First Erasmus Marhaba Awardee from University of Sulaimani Joined His Study Abroad

University of Sulaimani is one of the four universities from Kurdistan Region of Iraq to join the European Union Erasmus Program, Marhaba Project and its President has been appointed as the country director of the program. This academic Year University of Sulaimani has won 4 awards in the 1st cohort Marhaba Project, 2 PhD scholarships and 2 Academic staff exchange.

The PhD scholarships are for 34 months and the staff mobilities are for 1 month.

One of the PhD scholarship awardee is from School of Political Sciences who has been accepted to do his PhD study at University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain. The other PhD scholarship awardee is from Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering and has been accepted to do her study at University of Cagliari, Italy; one of the Academic staff is from School of Science, Department of Computer Science has been selected to do his mobility program at University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, Bulgaria as a visiting staff for one month; and the other Academic staff is from School of Science, Department of Biology has been selected to do her mobility program at University of Cagliari, Italy as a visiting staff for one month. 

University of Sulaimani as the mother University in the region proudly participated in this program and seized this opportunity to win 4 Erasmus Marhaba awards in the 1st cohort.

The first awardee Mr Saman A. Ali from School of Political Sciences has departed and joined the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain for his 34 month PhD program.

Our university Erasmus Marhaba awardees are very delighted to get the chance to learn more about research, teaching and culture at the European universities; and they believe that this program is a great opportunity to create bridges between European educational Institutions with Kurdistan academic Institutions.
